To celebrate its 10th anniversary, Pechanga Resort & Casino in California presents the “Let’s Make a Thrill Super Game Show Promotion” throughout the months of June and July. Pechanga’s patrons have helped the resort/casino become the Four Diamond, top-rated destination it is today and to say “thank you,” the casino is giving its guests the chance to win $10,000, $50,000, a Porsche Boxter, or even $1,000,000. Every day in June and July, Rewards Club members can earn entries to the Wednesday drawings. The game show will be held in the Showroom June 22nd, 29th, and July 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th with the show and contestant drawings beginning at 7:00 p.m. More than a dozen card-carrying audience members each Wednesday will be given the chance to win a Porsche or the $1,000,000. Those selected from the drawing barrel will join the host on stage and play a series of games, similar to those in the popular TV show, “Let’s Make a Deal.” Random audience members also have the chance to win cash and prizes, even if they are not called on stage. If they can meet the host’s request, however zany it might be, they’ll win right there on the spot.
Pechanga club members may earn drawing entries by playing slots, video poker, table games or live poker. New members receive one free drawing entry just for signing up.
Then from July 1 - 3, Pechanga will host the 10th Annual Pechanga PowWow - held on event grounds adjacent to the resort. The Pechanga PowWow is the largest of its kind in California and draws more than 20,000 spectators over the 4th of July weekend. Outside of the “Gathering of the Nations” powwow held annually in April in Albuquerque, NM, the Pechanga powwow is also one of the largest in the West and features more than 1,000 participants from native drummers, singers, dancers, contests and more. The event is free and open to the public.
Finally, if you are a poker beginner or just want to review the games, Pechanga Poker Room offers free poker lessons every weekday at 9:00 a.m. Tell the poker room associate at the podium that you want to sign up for a lesson. If you catch on quickly, try your new found playing abilities out at the 10:00 a.m. weekday tournaments.
In Las Vegas, Poker Palace Casino (actually on the “North Las Vegas Strip”-2757 Las Vegas Boulevard North) has named Jon Mullen poker room manager. Mullen is responsible for overseeing the casino’s popular poker tournaments, now held five days per week.
“Poker Palace’s poker tournaments are great for players,” said Mullen. “They are 100 percent payback with just a $20 buy-in.” The casino, owned by long-time poker player Mickey Coleman, is in the process of constructing a dedicated poker room to accommodate the tournament’s large following. The new poker room is open during construction. Completion of the room is scheduled this month. “Since Poker Palace started running the tournament, it has expanded twice,” said Mullen. “We are now accommodating approximately 80 players on Saturdays and nearly 50 players during the week with seven tournament tables and one live game table.”
The casino offers live games seven days per week, starting at 4:00 p.m. There is a $30 minimum buy-in for live games with $3/$6 style play. Poker Palace also offers a Jackpot Drop for 4-of-a-kinds at $1 per hand with a payout of everything in the Jackpot. The poker tournament runs Saturdays through Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m. Players buy-in for $20 and an optional $5 bonus buy gets an additional $1,000 in chips. The tournament also offers one $20 re-buy and one $20 add-on per player.
That’s it for this week!
