The Game of Life

After having read Jennifer’s column (”Fresh Young Face’), I have to admit it; she’s really a gung ho, (rah-rah) type of female. However, what she was alluding to in my comments about her may have fallen on deaf (eyes). To describe this woman, who I just recently met in person, requires that I draw a picture. Jennifer exemplifies agrown-up cheerleader type who brings gusto to the words, positive mind-set. Sort of like, “go life go, you can do it” rah, rah, rah, quality. Better yet, she could be described by using this analogy. If Jennifer were a medicine you could not buy Jennifer over the counter, oh no, you would need a prescription. In addition, the instructions on the bottle would entail that you not operate a motor vehicle while under her influence. Moreover, like any other pharmaceutical medicine prescribed for your consumption, the printed label says it all, “use as directed”. Finally, many potent prescriptions are safe, when used as directed, however, they become “lethal” if you administer too much. I merely pointed out to Jennifer that everybody cannot handle the “pure” dosage that she administers in her verbal discourse. Like other powerful drugs, you have to cut it with flour or something. Just kidding!

Many people in the real world are looking, searching for something, to believe in. It is what drives us from our tedious lives. Maybe that is why the poker casino business is flourishing. The gaming business supplies a lifetime full of promise for any and everyone. Now to realize and cash in on the earning potential is another thing. Sometimes the poker floor-room tables are a microcosm of what’s going on outdoors in the real world. Other times, it’s a social club that mirrors the best that life has to offer. A table full of nine people of diversified backgrounds engaged in one of the finest networking, tasteful, fun filled, socialization experiences that life has to offer. Other times, “It’s Katie bar the door” volume#MCCV11 on display. No matter, “for what is life?” if not a hodgepodge of differing ideas coming together for sometimes an explosion, other times for a fellowship masterpiece. Either way, life goes on and we go with it. Since tomorrow is not promised, we live for today-until tomorrow reveals itself. What’s important at this time will eventually give way to something else; it’s replacement. That’s right, there’s always something to think and reflect on, and to think this entire sequence commences again and again, after you wake up.

Like a boxing welterweight contender up against a heavyweight champion, we are collectively up against it. That the odds suggest that conquering this thing called life is futile, it merits no mention. There are tremendous odds against in a multitude of things in this life, so what? As long as they aren’t insurmountable we’ve got a “sucker’s chance” If we really had the capacity to overcome all of life travails… what would be the point?
