The second event of the 2005 WSOP Circuit at Harrah’s Las Vegas is history after the final table was played and we have a winner. The tournament, a $500 + $50 buy-in No-limit Hold’em event, begin on Tuesday with 268 players vying for some of the $129,980 prize pool. The final table nine included Chad Layne and An Tran, both professional players from Las Vegas. When the dust cleared and the final table was down to two players going heads-up it was Chad Layne against the ever formidable Men “the Master” Nguyen from Bell Gardens, California. The final hand came when Men pushed all-in with K,Qo and Chad called with the better hand of A,10o giving him the lead and a slight edge. The flop showed 3,Q,3 giving Men top pair and a big advantage. The turn was a 9, the river was another 9, and Chad was eliminated in second place and collected $22,876. Men Nguyen goes home with the top prize of $41,591 and his first WSOP Circuit Championship ring. Las Vegan Jeffery Robson was chip leader coming into the final table but had to settle for third place money of $11,698. An Tran went out in the fourth spot taking $9,099.

Event #3 began at noon Wednesday. The $1,000 + $60 buy-in No-limit Hold’em event attracted a field of 140 players and posted a prize pool of $135,800. The winner of the event will receive $48,888. Everyone at the final table will get paid with ninth receiving $4,074.

Max “the Italian Pirate” Pescatori continued in the thick of it with eighteen players remaining. Max just returned from the UK where he took some R&R following the 2005 WSOP. While there he played tournaments and sharpened his game. Max won a WSOP Circuit event in 2005 and already owns one of the WSOP Circuit gold championship rings; but adding another would double the size of his collection.
