Perks and Picks: All-Star Gaming Expo, Railroad Pass adds Poker

A terrific line-up of gaming celebrities has been set for the “All-Star Gaming Expo” to be held on December 2 and 3 at Fiesta Rancho in Las Vegas. Leading gambling writers and experts will be offering their tips, strategies and advice to help you improve your casino game play. A series ofseminars will be presented both days with topics including an introduction to playing Texas Hold ‘em poker and playing in poker tournaments, blackjack strategies and tournament tips, craps for beginners and advanced craps, sports betting and handicapping and video poker instruction and tips, plus information on how to get the most out of slot clubs, comps, working with slot hosts and coupons.
The impressive line-up of guest speakers includes Steve Bourie, Jeffrey Compton, Anthony Curtis, Bob Dancer, Larry Edell, Steve Fezzik, Angel Largay, Viktor Nacht, Blair Rodman and Jean Scott.
Tickets are $10 for each day that allows access to all seminars for that day or a 2-day pass is $15. A hotel package is also available for a Casino Rate of $65 per night that includes admission to all seminars. Individual tickets or the hotel package also includes some gaming perks and discount food offers, plus drawing tickets for prizes at the conclusion of the Expo on December 3.
An exhibit hall will be also be open both days (free, even if you don’t attend any seminars) to meet and greet the speakers and gather the latest information, books and software programs to help improve your gaming results. Also in Las Vegas, Railroad Pass Hotel and Casino (I-95 south on the way to Hoover Dam) has added a new poker room. The action at the three Texas Hold ‘em tables begins at noon every day. Play live $2/$4 Limit Texas Hold ‘em in the new room, which is managed by Michael Poehling. To get things started, players who buy-in for $20 or more will receive a free T-shirt. In addition to opening the new poker room, the Railroad Pass runs specials every week. On Senior Tuesday, seniors get two-for-one buffets or two entrees for the price of one in the Iron Rail Cafe. Every Tuesday a video poker cardof- the-day is chosen and any player hitting the selected fourof- a-kind wins a 100 bonus coins. Wednesdays are double slot club point days and Thursdays are triple point days.
A little further south on I-95, the Hacienda Hotel and Casino has also added a poker table which opens at 6:00 p.m. nightly to its pit area. The casino also runs good promotions and specials including 4 x points on Tuesdays open to everyone on an ongoing basis.
Finally, the Palms Las Vegas has opened the new 24/Seven Cafe replacing the former Sunrise Cafe. As the name indicates, the new cafe is open 24 hours and serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and late-night dining. The cafe menu features a wide variety of dishes including entrees and generously portioned salads, certified Black Angus Steaks, hot and cold sandwiches, an extensive choice of appetizers, decadent desserts, specialty pizzas and a Chinese menu. It also features giant plasma televisions. Take-out meals are available.
